The Managing Trustee and Foundress of Rajashree S.M.M. School, Smt. Lakshmi Bhasi, came from a very conservative, humble and simple background, in a small village called Maradu, located in Tripunithura, Kerala.

Her father, Sri. Mangayil Sankunny Paniker, was a strict and awe inspiring teacher at the local Mangayil High School, while her mother, Smt. Kozhikotte Madhavikutty Amma, hailing from Chennamangalam, was a devoted home maker, who showered love and tenderness equally upon all her ten children.

Coming from such a background, where teaching, discipline and values were instilled at such a tender age, there was little doubt that Smt. Lakshmi Bhasi would inevitably follow in her fathers footsteps.

Smt. Lakshmi Bhasi began her formative education at the Mangayil High School, Tripunithura, where her father taught, and on completion of her 10 th standard, she opted for the science stream, selecting Physics as her Major, and Chemistry and Mathematics as her subsidiary subjects. Subsequently, she went on to complete her B.Sc at the prestigious Maharaja's College in Ernakulam, where she graduated with top honors, with Physics being her subject of specialization. Consequently, true to her calling and early surroundings and influences, she decided that her career would lie in the field of teaching and to this effect, enrolled herself to complete her B.Ed, opting for English and Mathematics.

After her marriage, Smt. Lakshmi Bhasi left for Hong Kong, where her husband worked and soon secured her first teaching job at Maryknoll Secondary School, (managed by American Fathers), where she taught English and Physics for 5 years.

After her 5 year initial tenure at Maryknoll, she went on to join St. Francis Canossian College, where she taught English and Physics for 17 years, before resigning and returning to her homeland with her husband and a dream.

Her dream and vision from the very commencement of her illustrious teaching career, spanning 22 years, was to build an institution of her own, dedicated to the memory of her parents and which incorporated and instilled the values, discipline and dedication that she was fortunate enough to experience and absorb, while teaching in Hong Kong.

This dream has now turned into reality with the establishment of Rajashree S.M.M School, nearly 10 years back, in a quiet and serene location in Aluva, Kerala.

Mr. Bhasi is a person who needs no mention as far as Rajashree S.M.M School is concerned. He has been and continues to remain Smt. Lakshmi Bhasi's pillar of strength, encouragement and support, without which Rajashree would have never materialized.

Mr. Bhasi's humility and simplicity is amply reflected in the fact that he wanted no mention of his name on this site. However, it was felt that the web-site would be inadequate and incomplete without mentioning his name and his silent but invaluable contribution. Mr. Bhasi has always preferred to remain behind the curtains not wishing to shine or bask in the limelight. He has been a person who has been available for each and every single aspect of the construction of the school premises, right from inspecting the quality of the cement purchased for the construction of the building in the campus to planning the layout of the buildings, supervision, and co-ordination with the laborers and contractors.

It would be appropriate to mention here that without his contribution Rajashree would have never been born.

Having worked in Hong Kong at his brother's company for well over 30 odd years, his unselfishness and sincerity can be measured by the fact that he was willing to share his wife's dream to set up an institution not in his parents name, but on the other-hand, in his wife's parents name, and to this effect, returned to India to act as an anchor to fulfill the cherished dream.

The birth and present existence of Rajashree S.M.M School is equally accredited not only to Smt. Lakshmi Bhasi, but equally to Mr. Bhasi as well which can and never will be capable of measurement or quantification
